87% of all Business Intelligence (BI) projects do not produce the desired results. Fortune 500 companies lose US $250 million every year as the result of the inadequate application of BI. These are the findings of two recent reports on the results of BI adoption in the industry. However all is not doom and gloom; it is expected that the demand for BI technology will double in the next 5 years. In order to limit the chance of failure and allow BI to become more effective, a foundation must first be laid down in the form of a Business Intelligence Competence Centre (BICC).
